DIY BRUSHWOOD VASE FOR CUT FLOWERS

All-natural decoration for Lenten Roses

If you have Lenten Roses or Snow Roses in your own garden, you will definitely not need to buy anything for this DIY idea. You only need materials most garden lovers have in their homes – or gardens – anyway. If you want to take the freshness and naturalness of Lenten or Snow Roses from your garden into your home, you don't even need a vase. A used canning jar and pieces of brushwood is all you need to showcase the Snow Roses in a natural-looking setting in your home. The dark pieces of wood create a lovely contrast with the light-coloured flowers, reflecting the contrasts that occur in the natural environment.

MATERIAL MATERIAL

jam jar, twigs (perfect if overgrown with lichens or moss for an even more natural look), secateurs, wire, a plate to be used as a pot saucer as needed, bow or felt ribbon, Snow Rose or Lenten Rose flowers
STEP 1 STEP 1

Cut twigs to length, leaving them slightly longer than the jar height to cover the jar completely. Trim any projecting ends. One twig after the other, wrap a round of wire around each twig tying the twigs as closely together as possible. You may want to add a second layer of twigs to fill any gaps.
STEP 2 STEP 2

Wrap the twig screen round the glass and twist the wire ends together. Since the jar is closed at the bottom, the saucer is only needed for an optical effect or to prevent the jar from sliding out of its twig sleeve. Jars with a larger top than bottom radius are less prone to sliding out of the sleeves due to their funnel shape. Top off with felt ribbon or other kind of ribbon as desired.
