Let there be light!

When days are getting shorter and nights longer, candlelight and holiday lights create a cosy atmosphere. In the period leading up to Christmas, the warm glow of lights softly illuminates so many places, from the centre of town with all its Christmas decorations and our neighbours' windows to our own homes. So why not combine the winter flower decoration with holiday lights? There’s a huge variety of low-cost LED lights available these days that don’t cost that much to run. Fairy lights are available for indoors and outdoors, they can be battery operated or run off the mains, and you can get them in any number of different sizes and colours. We chose to use very small lamps with a warm golden light. In our DIY instructions, we show you how to (high)light the Snow Rose in a pot for an atmospheric feel in just a few simple steps.

MATERIAL

Winter Ballet Christmas Rose (e.g. variety Liara), conifer twigs and cones, 6 twigs, Christmas tree decoration (e.g. stars in matching colours), jute cord, hot glue gun and secateurs, holiday lights (fairy lights)

STEP 1

First, tie the tops of four twigs together with jute cord. For a symmetrical result, position the twigs according to the plant pot cross-section and plant height.

STEP 2

Use the two remaining twigs to form a triangle, tying the two ends of twigs each together.

STEP 3

Weave fir twigs into the twig frame and fix them with jute cord.

STEP 4

Place the holiday lights along the twigs and tie the Christmas decoration item to the top edge of the triangle so that it will hang above the Snow Rose flowers. Fix the illuminated frame to the basket – and you're done!

FINISHED!

Battery-operated holiday lights have the big advantage of being mobile. It makes the illuminated Christmas Rose basket a wonderful gift.
