Christmas Roses are popular winter season gifts. They are a nice little gift to give away on no particular occasion, to friends, neighbours and acquaintances. While you can't really go wrong with a Christmas Rose, when it comes to the pot, the challenge is to meet the recipient's taste. Unobtrusive and plain or an elegant statement? What will best match the furnishings and personal style and keep as a lasting decorative element? If you don't have the right pot at hand or don't want to go shopping for one, just make your own all-natural cone pot for your Christmas Rose gift. The DIY aspect enhances the value of the gift and there will be no ugly pot to discard.
Wrap moss around the plastic pot to screen the plastic and provide better support for the cones.
Wrap the cones one by one around the pot with wire. For optimum stability, wrap wire both around the top and bottom parts of the cones.
Fill any gaps between the cones with small house leek rosettes.
Top off with a few windings of macramé cord to create the illusion that the cord alone holds the cones together. Hidden away, the wire provides the strength needed to keep them together.
Surprisingly easy to transport, wonderfully natural and a guaranteed eye catcher.
